about

Foster care is hard. Writing this song was hard. On a February morning of this year we got a call that we knew was coming but that we still could never have felt ready for. The twin sisters of our adopted sons were here and we had to make a choice: move our 2 other foster children to another home and take the twins or allow to twins to go to another foster home and have our other children stay. Writing that now in September is just as hard as it was to consider in February. This song is filled with our sadness at the decision that needed to be made, frustration with the system, and pleas for peace in our lives and the lives of all the kids. Born out of one of our hardest trials, it was hard to write but necessary to share in order to really give a raw look at what foster care looks like sometimes. In the end, the song doesn’t have a full resolution or happy face to put on but it’s honest. However, God carried us through which leads us to.... our next song!
