about

When Susan Klaus of Agape Ranch reached out to us in March and asked if we knew of a song, or could possibly write one, for youth aging out of foster care we were so excited. What she didn’t know was that we had started writing songs the month before as an emotional outpouring of our grief over saying goodbye to 2 of our foster children.
Kris started with “Your Story Isn’t Over” with a heart for teens who, through circumstances outside their control, are facing an adulthood without a solid support system. More than 90% of young adults aging-out of the foster system will become homeless, incarcerated, in prostitution, sex trafficked, or dead within three years. This is why we want to support Agape Ranch in their ongoing work to provide support for aging out foster youth! Their story, up to that point, has been written for them but it isn’t over yet. In verse one we reference a 4 and 5 year old to draw attention to the younger children who are growing up in foster care. This is a nod to Brother and Sister, our sweet foster loves who are now with another family. In verse two we wrote about being 17 and knowing how hard it is for teens in care to trust that there can be a better life for them. In writing this song we wanted to send a clear message of hope to youth in foster care and those who have already aged out of the system. Do you know that feeling when you hear a song and feel like it was written just for you? That’s how we want foster youth to feel when they hear “Your Story Isn’t Over”.

lyrics

Verse:
I can see in your tired eyes
It’s a lot when you’re four and five
There’s a pain that you can’t describe
And that’s alright

Pre Chorus:
But there’s more to you I know
There’s a strength in you I see
And with all you’ve overcome
You’re gonna do great things

Chorus:
I believe it, I can see it
You’re a miracle in motion
You can feel it in your spirit
When you give and as you’re growing
And remember when your tears are falling down
That your story isn’t over even now

Verse 2:
It isn’t fair what you’ve had to see
When you’re only seventeen
But now you’re safe and I’m listening
I’m on your side

I know it feels like you’ve come undone
Like everything that you knew is gone
And there’s a trust that I haven’t won
And that’s alright

Bridge:
And you know that God has plans to guard you
Plans to prosper, not to harm you
Plans to give you hope and future

Tag:
So look up and find the rainbow in the clouds
No, your story isn’t over even now
